What we collect

You can search without an account. To answer a search we send the name you typed to the SEC's public adviser database. We keep those lookups for up to 24 hours so repeat searches are fast, then delete them automatically.

If you ask for alerts or join a waitlist, we store your email address and what you asked to follow. We use it only for that purpose.

If you buy a report, payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card number. We keep a record of the order (your email address, the report you bought and the amount) so we can send your access link, handle refunds and meet tax rules. Your access is stored in a cookie on your device and in your private link.

Analytics and ads

We count visits and steps such as searches, report views and checkouts with Vercel Web Analytics and PostHog. Both are set up without cookies and don't identify you: we don't record your screen or what you type, and search terms and the names in report addresses are removed before anything is counted. When you buy a report, our server records the plan and amount against the order number only.

If you arrive by clicking one of our ads, we remember the campaign (and, for LinkedIn ads, the click ID LinkedIn adds to the link) in a first-party cookie for 30 days. If you then buy a report, our server tells LinkedIn that a purchase of that amount followed that click, so we can see which ads work. We never send LinkedIn your email address, name, searches, or which advisor or firm you looked up.

What we don't do

  • We never tell an advisor or firm that you looked them up, or that you bought a report about them.
  • We don't sell your searches or email address, or share them with advertisers.
  • We don't use advertising pixels or cross-site tracking cookies, and no ad platform's code runs in your browser.

Deleting your data

Every alert email will include an unsubscribe link that deletes your address from that list. To delete an order record or anything else we hold about you, email hello@advisorclear.com.
